Outfit: Classic Tomboy

Hey, this is officially my first sweatshirt below.  I’ve never been a sweatshirt kind of girl. I don’t do sporty spice. I couldn’t even bring myself to step a toe into the whole athleisure trend. As far as leisure wear I am a complete pyjama wearer. But after 3 months of apartment changing, renovating and winter I thought id give the sweatshirt a go. And boy I am glad i did.

Think comfort. Warmth, Softness. Usually in winter I prefer to wear chunky knits. But they can become super bulky and too hot indoors.

This sweatshirt takes me from the bed straight to the street. Minus the blazer.

Did I mention these shoes….. My only pair. I am sooo sick of them. I CANNOT wait to open my shoe box out of storage and then I think I will burn these boots. I have been trying to hold off buying a new pair just to see how long I can live with 1 pair of shoes. 3 months i think is my maximum.

Heres hoping for a great week.

A Vulgar Woman

Vulgar: tasteless, gross, crass, unrefined, tawdry, ostentatious, flamboyant, over-elaborate, overdone, showy, flashy, gaudy, garish, brassy, kitsch, tinselly, flaunting, glaring, brash, loud, harsh

The word vulgar has been used in this society as a derogatory slur against women for doing nothing different to what any man does. The word vulgar is often used as an insult to describe feminists. A women who is a little louder. A woman who is funnier than a man.  A woman who is forthright. Who is uncaring about how she is seen.  Has an off colour sense of humour. Unconventional. It’s basically used to describe a woman non favourable who acts like a man.  Instead of someone who is probably really funny and believes in gender equality and maybe likes wearing daytime sequins.

Id rather be called the “C” word then be called vulgar by either a man or a woman.

This whole idea that a woman has to act feminine is as alien to me. Any femininity committed by me is purely accidental as in I am a female and cisgender. I like dresses and shoes but I also like fishing and dirty jokes and toilet humour.

I mean I would never ask my partner to stop listening to my emotions or not to express his naturally. Just because he is a man and should be unfeeling and unemotional. Should I call him a pussy for cooking me dinner? Why is a man applauded for being in touch with his feminine side? Why do men get to be labelled evolved for acting in a more female gender traditional role. But if a woman does she is easily labelled vulgar? No one is extolling me for my awesome collection of “your mom” jokes.

It’s true men can also be called vulgar but it seems to me without the venom and hate behind it when women are called vulgar. It’s an especially ugly word said to make a woman feel particullary ugly. As in not pretty.

I personally know NO vulgar woman. I know woman who can drink like a sailor. Women that make me laugh. That are spirited. That are confident. That are just themselves. And I love all of them.

Fall Transitions

It’s officially sweater weather. The weather is definitely getting way cooler and one minute your cold and the next minute your warm. Making getting dressed in the morning a nightmare.

Image2.jpg

My go to in Fall is to cling to skirts and dresses for as long as I can. My way to do this without getting too cold is to add some boots and some light knits.

Image5.jpg

Although Fall is far from my favourite season as its way to close to winter I do like dragging out leather skirts and jackets as a change to simple summer cottons.

Malta Outfit Vol 2

Fresh from the salt water & sun and dressed in all white. No make up on & wet salty hair. Thats when I feel the best in my skin. Almost akin to being reborn. There is something about the ocean and the sun that feels very calming and cleansing to me like nothing else does.

Image 1.1.jpg

I love to dress in all white. It’s so simple & chic and my go to color come Summer.  I am also adoring these playful frill sleeves on this simple white H&M top. A pair of simple white shorts and old school flip-flops for a total vacation feel. It’s so funny I used to wear flip flops everyday to work living in Byron Bay now I only get to wear them poolside or at the beach.

Image 1.3.jpg

There is so many great things to be said of Malta & I am planning a post soon. But there is also a lot to be said for travelling and taking holidays. When I lived in Australia we lived about 5 minutes drive away from one of the worlds best beaches. The weather was mild and the location slow and peaceful. Sure vacations were always a nice thing. But it wasnt a necessity. Living in Vienna & a oceanless Austria. The busy hustle. The brusque people. The colder weather. One NEEDS to take a vacation here for general sanity.

So with great hesitation I think I am able to move into fall and say a very reluctant goodbye to summer. I went out with a bang and now its time to embrace the new season hopefullu not dragging and screaming

Simple Stripes

I have been AWOL for a while caught up in the whirl of end of summer which means trying to cram in every last outdoor thing I can think of. Which includes strolls around the back streets of the city and eating a lot of frozen yogurt.

This is the easiest outfit ever. Simple stripes in some major OVERSIZED mens shirt I picked up from a secondhand shopping spree i wrote about here.

Cool, easy and super comfortable paired with my favorite Birkenstocks and some basic gold jewelry.

This shirt also doubles well as pajamas which is an awesome perk. Or a swimsuit cover up or a knotted shirt. It’s the shirt that keeps on giving.

Fingers crossed y’all for an Indian Summer.
