Outfit: Winter Blues

It’s starting to get mighty chilly in Vienna this week. And knowing that there is only more coldness to come I decided to wear the last of a late summer outfit while I still could.

A simple shirt & jeans and a dirty pair of converse would usually be a late summer fall outfit but by adding a coat, a wool scarf and a cosy vest singlet underneath I managed to stay a toasty warm and avoid another sweater. Because sweater after sweater day after day can be so boring and claustrophobic for someone who likes a little variety and lightness in their clothes.

How about these converse. Too dirty? Or just dirty enough? Did I mention that 90% of my closet is in storage. And in a fit of trying to pack light I decided to 2 pair of shoes would be enough for what will be  now till the end of the year. And all my winter boots & shoes are in a box under a pile of probably 20 other boxes. 2 pairs of light type shoes in November & now December? What was I thinking?

Outfit: Sunday Stroll

Sorry I have been MIA lately. I have been moving flats. Actually more like packing up everything I own into boxes. Moving things into storage. Cleaning. And moving into an Air B&B for a month while we renovate our new place.  So needless to say I have been busy busy busy. But for now am enjoying our new temporary residence and Sunday was the perfect day to grab a coffee and to stroll around our new neighbourhood and find out where everything is.

Our temporary flat is located right near Karlsplatz and I am loving being so close to the city. They are beginning to set up the Christmas markets in ressel park and cant wait to opening day.

The sunny fall day was perfect for my vintage leather motorcycle jacket, some woolen tights & a floral dress. Fall dressing done easy.  And a welcome change from dirty jeans and dusty sweatshirts.

I also was somehow smart enough to schedule a hair cut and color right before moving.  Giving me one less thing to worry about.

So the next month will be full of renovating projects. I will be posting some before and after pictures of our new space. In the meanwhile I am chained to pinterest trying to keep all the projects in order and find new ideas.

Summer Dress

I picked up this Zara dress at the start of Summer and it quickly became my favourite thing to wear on those hot days & summer evenings. It’s so loose and blowy and translates easily from day to casual night.

Each season there always seems to be an item of clothing for me that sets the tone and becomes a reminder piece of that summer or that spring. Like a song you listened a lot to. It’s funny how clothes can have that power to remind you of a good time or a bad time. Like the dress you wore to a wedding. Or the swimsuit you bought for a certain vacation. The dress you wore on your birthday. Those key pieces of clothing i always try to keep from seasons past as a memento. This dress was this summer for me.

With the end of summer slowly creeping in its always good to have a reminder. Its been a great few months of sunshine, swimming, beer drinking, good friends, weddings & vacations. And next week I am off to Malta for a week as a summer extender. I cant wait to swim in the ocean.

So not saying goodbye to Summer yet just preparing to remember it already.

Just Peachy

Summer is finally here and I am feeling just peachy.  Vienna is almost a whole different city in Summer. It;s like the whole city collectively comes outside again to enjoy the open air and parks and plazas.

So I grabbed the prefect loose dress for a 30 degree day to stroll around town and eat ice cream. This peachy dress is Mango from a few seasons ago, but I think its pretty timeless.

It has the prettiest shoulder embroidery and I am obsessed with this muted peachy orangey pink pallete lately. It’s also loose and forgiving for maximum ice cream consumption.

Also new in finally are my new favourite summer sandals. The Arizona Birkenstocks in metallic copper.  I am a Birkenstocks girl from way back when and love to wear them in an ageing hippie ironic way. I also have a very delicate foot from years of high heels in my hooker days ( thats a joke) Can I just say these are so unbelievably comfortable i may just sleep in them.

Second Hand Stripes

For the past few weeks I have been living in stripes.  Every morning I am channeling my inner sailor / Parisian.  The weather is finally starting to rewarm up and its perfect blazer weather. NO MORE COATS zone for me. This second-hand stripe shirt is a new addition. I think it’s actually a vintage 80’s by the tag attached. But it looks like something you can buy off the shelves right now. And at a whopping €3.00 a total steal.

I love these jeans but they are a little too high-waisted for sitting, eating or bending over. I call them my standing only jeans.  They almost have me craving some low slung g-string showing jeans from the 90’s. Almost.

I also call this look the mullet. I am business casual on top and party down the bottom.
